Summer Work

This piece was inspired while sailing in the Atlantic. The color of of the ocean, and the range of shades of blue was breathtaking. My process simply began with taking pictures of the water at different times of the day, to record the various shades of blue. I was also interested in documenting the floating seaweed, because the color changed the as I sailed north, changing from a golden hue to brown/green. I bought my imagery to the computer and started to play with it by cropping and inverting the images. I really liked what happened when I inverted some of the photos, but I wanted both the original photo and the inversion to work together, so I began to layer and work with transparencies. I layered into these transparencies typography to help support my intention of conservation and the environment.
